Why this isn’t the time for a square Ramsey peg in a round tactical hole

As much as I would like to rant and rave about how this isn’t the November I was hoping for, I’ll spare you all… for now. Though we can be happy with our result against Ludogorets and a spirited 1-1 draw (though disappointing on the whole) against that lot up the road, our performance at Old Trafford against Jose Mourinho’s underachievers left far too much to be desired.

In a ninety-minute display that we realistically only made an appearance for a fractional percentage of, the truth is we are quite lucky to come away from the northwest with a point. United should and undoubtedly do feel hard done by the result. We may not have been ruthlessly put to the sword in stunning fashion, but it’s a result where we can look back in May and honestly tell ourselves that we have one more point in the table than we should have. To be blunt, we should have expected far more from our boys in a match against one of our biggest Premier League rivals.

Arsenal must reshuffle to beat wounded United

With Saturday fast approaching we come to a major juncture of Arsenal’s season. Since Fergie left we’ve been in a few positions where we’ve gone to Old Trafford in the League with big expectations and suffered more than prospered.

In 2013 David Moyes’ hapless United beat us 1-0 and last season Louis Van Gaal’s out of form, glorified youth team gave us the sucker punch blow that effectively haunted our title race.

Saturday’s game brings even more importance though. Our troubles in November are a yearly well of despair that nowadays we more lower ourselves down into rather than fall in. The added incentive comes with Jose Mourinho, a man Wenger has never beaten in the League and because of that, the man Wenger will want to beat most.

Why Jack Wilshere has a future with Arsenal and England

It was at the 2009 Emirates Cup that Jack Wilshere first came to mine and many people’s attention. As a baby-faced 17-year-old, he burst onto the scene at the pre-season tournament and by the end of it he was the name on everyone’s lips.

For most that year’s Emirates Cup was a mere friendly competition, a chance to get some fitness in ahead of the upcoming campaign. But not for Wilshere. Instead it was his opportunity to shine and show what all the fuss was about.

He tore Glasgow Rangers apart during the opening day’s action, scoring twice in a 3-0 win against a side who only 12 months ago had reached the final of the then UEFA Cup. Wilshere’s performance naturally drummed up the typical media hype, indeed the Daily Telegraph’s comparison to a young Paul Gascoigne.
