Jack Wilshere – The Turning of the Tide

lm banner

Bit of an impromptu series this week as completely unscripted, the guys decided to send in blogs on players returning from injury.  Here’s Luke’s blog on Jack Wilshere and check out Jake Arsenal’s (@JakeArsenal1) piece from earlier this week if you haven’t already. – OG

With Jack Wilshere seemingly edging closer and closer to full training and hopefully a return to team contention the question is what impact could he play in the final part of the season?

It’s been a long time since Wilshere burst onto the scene in a season highlighted by an amazing performance vs Pep’s Barcelona (arguably the best club team of all time). At this point we all thought Jack would be a mainstay in the squad, breaking 200+ games and one of our most important players – but injuries have written a different and cruel story so far. Wilshere has only managed 169 games in the years following his debut in 2008 against Blackburn and since his breakthrough season in 2010/2011 it seems our expectations for him have been slowly but surely dismantled piece by piece.

Could the injured cavalry return be the push we need?

Bit of an impromptu series this week as completely unscripted, the guys decided to send in blogs on players returning from injury.  Here’s Jake Arsenal’s take on players returning with Luke’s (@LukeisPremium) blog on Jack Wilshere due later this week. – OG

Could the injured cavalry return be the push we need?

If you’re going to press on for a title as we look to end a long drought without it, having players come back from injury in the second half of the season, is better than losing them for the rest of the campaign for sure.

With the three who are yet to feature this season in Jack Wilshere, Tomáš Rosický and Danny Welbeck, you can bet each will have their own determination to show not only the manager they are deserving of a chance in this title run, but themselves. Then guys who were concrete in the first team like Coquelin and Cazorla will be also hoping to reassert themselves back in to the starting 11.

The Ins and Outs of Mohamed Elneny

at banner

Well ladies and gentleman, we’ve announced Mohamed Elneny.  The 23-year old Egyptian international comes to us by way of Swiss giant and Champions League regular FC Basel.  After spending two and a half seasons in the watch making capital of the world, he brings a reputation of being arguably the most vital piece of the midfield jigsaw puzzle of his former employers.  But is the move all that it seems?

Surely the quality is there, as it is unlikely that Arsène Wenger would stump up the funds in January if he felt the player could not make the grade at the Emirates, but the “problem” is that he just may not be the type of player you’re expecting amid the fact that Francis Coquelin remains out for another month at the minimum.

Coming to Terms with Silent Stan

ja banner.svg

I know it’s been a while since I’ve done a piece here, and today I bring you part thoughts and part discussion that lead me to, well, finally accepting the Kroenke regime at our club.

Anyone who knows me, knows I’m a multi sports fan. I’ve always supported the Detroit Redwings and Houston Rockets in America. Both of which conveniently wear red and white which keeps my mental sporting colours/OCD thing I have right on the spot.

What does this have to do with Kroenke? Well, because of my knowledge of American sports and yes, I also was a childhood wrestling fan, I know all about the horrible misdeeds of Mr. Stan Kroenke – most of which I’ve already blogged about. But, in review, here is just a brief recap.

Campbell’s Opportunity has Come; He Needs to Heed Those Who Came Before Him

og banner

“I am happy that [he] has left… he got praised as a great runner if he ever got back to defend three times in a game. If [he] fails to train properly twice or three times he won’t get games.”

– Berti Vogts, former Coach of Germany, on Lukas Podolski when he left Köln for Arsenal

We’ve been here before.

A strong attacking showing for one’s country in an International tournament playing centrally followed by a move to the Arsenal – only to be shoved out on the wing to suffer a death found out by a lack of defending; eventually tossed aside and moved on with little fanfare.

“I am Gooner” decried Andrey Arshavin after what was likely the most protracted signing in Premier League history.  It took a full day to confirm it, but in the January window of 2009 – the mercurial Russian was signed in, what was then, a club record deal.
